    In six weeks we cover all facets of working with artists: From roles around the artists in the music industry, artist concepts, artist business, management, career strategy, artist marketing, A&R, publishing and labels. We invite guest speakers, key bookers, artist managers, A&R's and music entrepreneurs to explain how artists work and want to work. The inspiring guest lessons are always concluded with Q&A's with the students.

  • Assignments + Certificate

    Participants will have six theoretical lessons including presentations, cases and Q&A's. Subjects include: Roles around the artist, strategy & monetizing artists, conceptualizing artists, content, digital marketing & communication and selling artists. Successful participation in the lessons and competition of the end of course assignment is rewarded with a Next Stage accredited certificate.

  • Jobs & Network

    Aside from industry knowledge, Next Stage opens up an extensive network and possibilities to generate work experience, internships and jobs for the most talented participants. Our students already work at events like DGTL, ID&T and music companies like Beatport, Universal and various labels. We help with career strategy, connecting the right people and starting up your company.

    • Learn how to create an artist strategy plan including music, touring, sponsorship deals and a proven case

    Artist Business: A&R, publishing, labels and streaming
    • Learn all about monetizing the music, sounds and scores of an artist

    Artist Business: Portrait rights, content & marketing conversion
    • In this lesson we will look at the artist as a brand, portrait rights, content and marketing

    Artist Management: strategy, booking, pr & communication
    • Learn how to create a strategic plan for an artists, the world of artist booking, PR & communication

    Artist Management: touring, advancing, live & on stage
    • In this last lesson we will focus on artist performing from a 360 perspective

Jan Maarten is founder and head teacher of Next Stage, the first education platform on Dance & Electronic Music culture in the Netherlands. Jan Maarten has 20 years of experience in organizing events and teaches organizing Dance events, marketing & ticketing and building professional artist careers. Aside teaching and moderating, Jan Maarten also coaches talents with their career to help them make the right choices and connections.
